Wow….
I’m writing this on the evening of June 1, the last night of my mini-vacation/writing retreat. I head home tomorrow and am extremely happy with the results of the trip.
I started this trip about a week behind my planned pace for edits to the next novel I’m preparing. As I sit here now, since I left for this trip, I’ve completed edits for over half the novel, and am now about two weeks ahead of the pace which, for me, is utterly insane.
Not only that, but I ended up spending a bit of time that I had not planned on, sorting out website issues here. What started as an idea to do a minor update to re-fresh the site add a couple of sections and flesh others out, turned into a bit of a crisis when I discovered the entire site was down. So after spending some time with tech support and doing some researching and trying to find components that I had stripped out and now realize I need and want to add back in, I’ve got another administrative project on my hands to work through the updates. If you’re interested to see where things stand, head over there now and check it out, but if certain elements don’t make any sense….I know.
So, what lays ahead?
I still have the return trip which will take about 4-5 hours and will permit me to continue working while I travel. With that in mind, I anticipate further progress on chapter edits, which will be good as day job needs will be a bit higher during this coming week and I may eat into the two week lead I currently have. Even though it’s likely I will complete chapter edits earlier than anticipated, I do not plan to release the novel early as I want to use the added time I’ll be getting to work through the last tidbits of the second Codename Ciris book. On top of that, I still have administrative issues to handle, announcements to make and more, so this buffer I’ve built will be critical in helping to facilitate that as well.
So, that’s it from me for now. I’ll catch you all later!
